Recently left role as FCA technical specialist

Former Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) technical specialist Rory Percival is to launch his own consultancy firm and has won a contract with support services provider Threesixty.

Rory Percival Training and Consultancy will launch on 1 November, as a provider of internal staff training to Threesixty.

The contract will see Percival (pictured) join Threesixty for one day a month to support training but further events are already being discussed, managing director Phil Young said.

Percival recently left the FCA following ten years with the regulator, during which he worked on the suitability of advice, the Retail Distribution Review and risk profiling among others. Percival confirmed his departure from the FCA in August.

Young said Percival's background with the regulator was a "great platform" for his work, having exposed him to the industry as well as helped improve the perception of the regulator.

He said: "Launching his own consultancy business will allow Percival to develop as broad a reach as possible, to get out there creating more of a legacy to improve standards and professionalism across the board."

He added: "Threesixty has employed a number of people over the years from the FCA. I think it gives a different perspective."

In one of his last engagements on behalf of the regulator, the Distribution Technology conference in March, Percival told delegates the FCA would not issue adviser checklists because they were "too prescriptive".
