Kames' Ennett: We are waiting for volatility squalls to buy risk

Asset class in a "sweet spot"

Kames Capital's recently appointed head of high yield David Ennett said his team is waiting for further volatility in the high yield market to present buying opportunities, saying the asset class is in a "sweet spot" in a record-low rate environment.

In his first interview since joining Kames Capital from Standard Life Investments, Ennett told Investment Week current market conditions are providing his team with opportunities to increase risk exposure. "We are waiting for little volatility squalls to buy risk, as we see this environment persisting for a long time," he said. "A low rate environment is hugely supportive for high yield and we will be in that sweet spot for a long time."
