Tesco's shares jump 6% on Barclays upgrade

Supermarkets on the rise

Tesco's shares have jumped more than 6% this morning to top the FTSE 100 index, after Barclays upgraded its recommendation on the stock to overweight.

Analysts at the bank increased their recommendation for the stock from equivalent weight to overweight, saying the latest decreases in the share price have made it attractive for investors. Since then, the share price has risen 6.5% this morning to trade at 155p. The firm is expected to issue its Christmas trading statement next week.
