Ex-Standard Chartered exec joins Brewin board

Former Standard Chartered chief operating officer for wholesale banking Kath Cates has joined the board of Brewin Dolphin as a non-executive director.

Cates, who is currently a non-executive director and head of the risk committee at insurer RSA, joined the wealth manager's board as of yesterday. She previously spent three years at Asia-focused lender Standard Chartered, having spent the prior 22 years working at UBS and its predecessor SBC. Brewin chair Simon Miller said: "I welcome Kath to the board. She has extensive international financial services experience, and a thorough knowledge of control, governance and risk management and I look forward to the contribution that she will bring to the board."
