Old Mutual Wealth has appointed former Rathbone Brothers chief executive Andy Pomfret as a non-executive director.

Pomfret will chair the audit committee and join the board's risk and remuneration committees. He is tasked with growing the firm's retail presence.

He is currently a non-executive director of the Graphite Enterprise and Aberdeen New Thai Investment trusts, and served as chief executive at Rathbone Brothers for ten years before stepping down in February this year.

The appointment comes after Old Mutual Wealth recruited BUPA chairman Sandy Leitch as a non-executive director in July. In addition to Pomfret and Leitch, the board now consists of former Threadneedle chief executive Simon Davies, IFDS founder Charlie Eppinger and Reclaim Fund chairman Jane Hanson.

Old Mutual Wealth chief executive Paul Feeney (pictured) said: “Andy has unrivalled breadth of experience in our sector as a successful CEO and finance director. He also has experience as a non-executive director and audit committee chair.

"He helped grow Rathbone Brothers from £7bn to £22bn funds under management in his ten years as chief executive and I am delighted to have someone with that experience and proven ability join our board.”
