BNY Mellon hires Investec's McCarthy to replace Goodsir

BNY Mellon Asset Management has hired Fergus McCarthy from Investec Asset Management as head of advisory, as it restructures its management team after the recent exit of Scott Goodsir, Investment Week understands.

Goodsir (pictured) was head of UK wholesale at BNY Mellon until he left in January to join Skandia as head of UK distribution. Investment Week understands BNY Mellon has subsequently decided to split Goodsir's role into two parts - head of advisory and head of discretionary. McCarthy has taken the advisory role, with the head of discretionary role likely to go to an internal candidate. McCarthy has been a sales director covering strategic partnerships at Investec for the last two years, having joined the group from a sales role at Martin Currie.
