FTSE drops again as US woes drag down sentiment

The UK's FTSE 100 index has fallen another 1% today as concerns over US tech companies and a variety of stock-specific issues hit returns for a second day running.

The index was down 0.9% at 6,561 shortly before the open of US trading this afternoon, responding in part to yesterday's falls on Wall Street. With US technology stocks such as Amazon and Yahoo among the biggest fallers on Monday, Imagination Technologies dropped 4% today as UK peers responded in kind. The largest faller in the FTSE 100 today is Sports Direct, which dropped 10% to 800p a share after founder Mike Ashley sold 25m shares in the business.
