Schroders commodity head Howell exits after 16 years

Robert Howell, manager of the Schroders Alternative Solutions Commodity fund, is leaving the firm, with emerging market chief Geoff Blanning to take over the portfolio.

Howell, who joined the company in 1998, has decided to leave Schroders and the financial services industry, the company confirmed. Blanning, head of emerging market debt, commodities and currencies, will assume full management of the $2.6bn (£1.6bn) fund with immediate effect. Launched in 2005, the vehicle is part of Schroders' Alternative Solutions range, and invests in oil, gold, natural gas and soft commodities and metals.
