City Financial is preparing to launch an Asian macro fund for portfolio manager Geoffrey Barker.
The fund is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2014 and will be a joint venture with City Financial Investment Company Hong Kong at its Hong Kong offices.
This is a wholly owned subsidiary of City Financial. The firm has been active since 2010, managing assets on behalf of UK institutional investors.
Barker was previously director of Ballingal Investment Advisors for more than seven years where he ran the BIA Pacific macro fund.
Andrew Williams, chief executive of City Financial, said: "City Financial has long since recognised the potential of hedge fund managers based in Hong Kong, and I look forward to working closely with Geoffrey to establish a strong presence for the group in this region."
David Stevenson asks why finance professionals continue to charge such high fees for their services in the face of massive technological change.
