Charlie Porter: Why I stepped down from F&C role

F&C's outgoing head of funds and investment trusts Charlie Porter has praised former activist investor and now group chairman Edward Bramson's strategic plan for the asset manager.

Porter (pictured), who officially hands the mantle of F&C’s retail business to Thames River investment director Mike Warren next month, will remain as a non-executive director of the firm. In an exclusive interview with Investment Week, industry veteran Porter said he made the decision to step down from his post several months ago because he did not see himself leading a public company. “I could not see myself doing quarterly meetings reporting to analysts,” he said. “I am more interested in doing things than reporting on things.
