Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has appeared on Chinese state television signing a song as part of the country’s new year celebrations.
The 81-year-old’s performance, in which he plays a ukulele and sings ‘I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”, was screened today on China's CCTV channel.
"Your country has accomplished amazing things, and the best is yet to come," Buffett told the broadcaster.
"We all know that Buffett is good at investment, but few knew he also did well in singing," said Wang Pingjiu, a production executive for the broadcast, according to the Xinhua news agency.
It had previously been reported that Buffett would record a greeting but would not sing owing to creative differences with the organisers.
Last year Buffett held a banquet with Bill Gates for Chinese billionaires in order to promote philanthropic interests; his business interests in China include Berkshire Hathaway's near 10% stake in Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD.
