Kames Capital is set to appoint Peter Shaw as co-manager of the £361m UK Equity fund on 1 January.
Shaw will work alongside Stephen Adams, the head of UK equities, in running the portfolio.
The group said the move is in recognition of Shaw's contribution to the fund over the years, and will allow him to share the responsibility for marketing the fund with Adams.
Shaw joined Kames, formerly Aegon Asset Management in 2000 from Scott Oswald. He manages the UK Equity High Alpha fund and the UK Equity Tactical Pension fund.
He is also a sector specialist in several UK small and mid cap sectors, covering support services, transport and technology.
Over the three years to 5 December the fund has returned 48.7% to investors, against a UK All Companies sector average of 54.1%.
