Pictet Asset Management was the big winner in this year’s Climate Change Investment Awards, being named Fund Management Group of the Year and highly commended in two other categories.
The winners were announced at a ceremony last week following the Climate Change Conference, which featured speakers from Pictet, F&C, Jupiter, TEIP, Sarasin & Partners and Legal & General.
F&C won the Best Climate Change Award for the F&C Global Climate Opportunities fund, while Legal & General Investments was named best new entrant to the climate change sector with its L&G Environmental Enterprise fund.
Other winners included Henderson Global Investors in the innovation category for its screening and investment process, Bank Sarasin and Sustainable Asset Management.
Now in their third year, the Climate Change awards are organised by Investment Week magazine with a panel of climate change investment experts.
Investing in climate change has become synonymous with investing in the ‘new economy’.
Increasingly, investors are aware that inefficient processes and waste are not only a cause of pollution, but that our supply of natural resources is also limited.
More and more, investors are not only looking to products and services that benefit our planet, but are also more aware of the long-term investment potential provided by companies exploring new ways of providing clean water, sustainable agriculture and renewable energy.
The awards are aimed at fund managers and companies investing in this theme, and thereby promoting a greater understanding of climate change investing.
