Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) has boosted its real estate offering with the hire of five investment managers.
Elaine Hughes has joined SWIP from CB Richard Ellis. She will assist Gerry Ferguson, head of wholesale real estate, with the management of the £2.3bn SWIP Property trust.
Tom Elviss previously worked for DTZ, and joined SWIP in July this year. He reports to Cameron Murray, investment director in the wholesale real estate team.
Veronica Gallo-Alvarez previously worked for Invista Real Estate Investment Management, where she managed its Clerical Medical Non Sterling With Profits property fund, which she will continue to run as SWIP takes over the mandate.
Oliver Lord joins from F&C REIT Asset Management where he was assistant fund manager. Lord will help manage SWIP's Clerical Medical With Profits fund and report to Darryl Tidd, investment director in the institutional real estate team.
Nicola Campbell has 16 years’ experience in the real estate industry and joined SWIP from Hunter Property Fund Management. She joined the firm in August and is involved in the management of the Clerical Medical Managed fund. She reports to Nick Ireland, investment director in the institutional real estate team.
“The SWIP real estate team is one of the leaders in the European commercial property market," said Malcolm Naish, director of real estate.
"As we continue to grow, it is important that we resource our business appropriately so as not to impact our ability to identify and maximise opportunities for investors. Veronica, Tom, Nicola, Elaine and Oliver are great additions to our existing team, and bring with them to SWIP a wealth of experience and expertise in real estate asset management.”
SWIP's real estate assets swelled to £8.5bn as it was appointed to run £2.4bn of assets on behalf of Lloyds Banking Group's insurance division. These assets were transferred from Invista to SWIP in May.
