Premier has transferred the management of its £23m Alpha Growth fund from PSigma’s Bill Mott to former Gartmore manager Simon King.
Along with Neil Cumming, Mott has run the high conviction fund since 2009. It was one of ten Premier acquired from Aberdeen Asset Management last July.
King joined Premier in April to take over the management of the UK Thematic and UK Smaller Companies funds, which were run by Premier managers Mike Jennings and Chris Wright.
Premier sales and marketing managing director Simon Weldon says King's appointment has allowed the group to bring the mandate in-house.
"It makes to sense to bring this fund in-house now we have the expertise, and Simon is attracted by running something so focused," he says.
King was previously a senior investment manager on Gartmore's UK equities team where his mandates included the high-conviction UK Focus fund, since renamed the UK Alpha and run by head of UK equities Leigh Himsworth.
Since taking over the Alpha Growth fund at the start of May, King says he has increased exposure to more liquid and higher conviction ideas.
Meanwhile, Cumming and Mott continue to run Premier's Alpha Income, Income and Monthly Income funds.
