Private client investment manager Principal Investment Management has appointed Stephen Jones, former head of European equities at Gartmore, as its CIO.
The private client manager, which runs nearly £1bn on behalf of private clients, says Jones will join it in mid-April.
Jones spent 15 years at Gartmore, where he worked his way up from being a senior investment manager of the European equity team, to become its head.
Before joining Gartmore, he worked for the Prudential Group from 1984, including seven years as a European fund manager, focusing primarily on France, Belgium and Switzerland.
Hugh Titcomb, who joined Principal as chief executive last April, says Jones has "tremendous investment and operational experience".
Titcomb adds Principal will expand its activities this year with Jones on board.
The firm has offices London, Bath and Sevenoaks, and focuses on discretionary portfolio management for private clients, trusts, and small institutional clients.
Its two primary areas of focus are portfolios invested directly in the markets, for which at least £250,000 is required, and managed fund portfolios, for which the minimum commitment is £50,000.
