US President Donald Trump is in favour of a more constructive US-Russia relationship, possibly in part to have an ally in the Middle East, and against China, where diplomatic relations are off to a rocky start.

How US-China relationships will unfold is a matter of guesswork at this stage. The demise of US involvement in the Trans-Pacific Trade Partnership does not bode well for other warm Asian relationships.     If US-China relations are going to be more contentious, with the possibility of business interests being compromised as pawns in a geopolitical game, many investors should look to the relative stability of India.
